Beginner DIY: How To Change A Light Fixture + 15 Favorite Flush Mounts ...

Want to learn how to do your own basic electrical repairs for your home? Replace and reattach light fixtures, outlets, or switches safely. We’ll go over basic tools and safety and how your home wiring works. There will be hands-on practice so you can learn how to replace or install an outlet, a switch, and a light.

Tools and materials are provided but you are welcome and encouraged to bring your own tools.

Prerequisite: none.

 Your instructor: Robin Renner and Curt Welch.

Robin Renner has 35 years experience as a carpenter, a contractor, and as a construction director for housing nonprofits. She has worked with hundreds of volunteers teaching and leading construction projects, everything from basic repairs to full whole house construction.  She has taught over 40 training classes ranging from drywall skills and general construction, to electrical and plumbing repairs, to healthy housing and safety.

Curt Welch is the steward of the metalshop. He does a LOT of the repairs and maintenance work on our makerspace building!!
