Box molds are a simple and versatile way to get started with resin casting. But they have one big problem. What if your positive doesn’t have a flat side to glue to the bottom of the mold box?
That’s where two-part molds come in. Two-part molds allow you to cast positives with more complex shapes. They also allow you to cast hollow pieces using a technique called slush casting.
This hands-on class will teach you everything you need to know to make a two-part mold: building a clay bed, mounting your positive, properly applying for mold release, pouring the two parts of the mold and more.
Note: This class has three half hour long periods waiting for rubber and mold release to cure. You should bring a side project to work on during these times.
Prerequisite: Mold Making and Plastic Casting 101
Recommended Clothing: The materials used in this class will permanently bond to anything they get on. It is strongly recommended you wear old work clothes and shoes you won't mind getting stained.
Class Fee is $40.
