This is an in-person event. Class size is reduced to allow for social distancing and temperatures will be taken prior to the class start.

This is a 2-day class. Plan to attend both sessions below:
Friday, Feb 12, 6 pm-10 pm
Sunday, Feb 14th, 9 am - 12 pm

Making a Celtic Knot rolling pin is easy (if you want to spend 4 hours on the table saw trying to figure out how to get your inlay to 1/8th of an inch), if not, things get very complicated, very quickly.

This class introduces the new 70° Celtic Knot jig. It will also show you how to cut and glue your blank so the corners and edges of your knot meet perfectly. We'll even do the math for you. (But we'll also show you how to do it, in case you want to do it yourself.)

Students will receive everything needed to make a French-style rolling pin, including a prepared blank and inlay material. Each student will cut and glue a blank using material provided. We'll also demonstrate how to accurately turn the blank for a perfect knot.

Day 1: Go over how to make the knot, including angle and thickness of inlay. Introduce jig, prepare the blanks, glue up, and tips for successful inlay glue up.

Day 2: Turn blanks into rolling pins (we'll turn the blanks...get it?) Demonstrate how to center the knot, lay-out the tapered sections, tips for making an even pin, and how to know when you're done. Lastly, we'll apply finish.

-->>Prerequisites: You must have completed the Woodshop Lathe sign off and the Woodshop Table Saw sign off
Mandatory Safety Dress Code: Closed-toed shoes, short sleeves, no loose clothing, and hair tied back. Must wear a mask at all times and must bring your own safety glasses.
