Feel the pride or accomplishment when you make your own shop tools. In this class, you will be shown how to turn a traditional wooden one-piece mallet (approximate weight 18-20 oz). This durable mallet will become one of your useful go-to tools in your shop. It can be used as a dead blow mallet or as a non-marring alternative to a metal hammer. The project will emphasize the use of spindle turning techniques to turn beads and coves and to turn a tapered shape to a specific size. If time permits you may turn a second lighter mallet for more delicate tasks. Wood blanks will be provided.
Prerequisite: Woodturning Lathe Sign Off Safety Dress Code: Woodshop dress code enforced. Comfortable closed-toed shoes; natural fiber clothing (wool, cotton, leather); no loose clothing; and hair and beard tied back). Masks are required until further notice.
