WW_P: Intermediate Wood Lathe – Turning Bowls

In this class, we'll explore design concepts and woodturning techniques needed to transform a piece of wood into an attractive and functional bowl. Process fundamentals will include, but are not limited to:

• bowl turning safety
• bowl design fundamentals
• wood selection,
• roughing and mounting bowl blanks
• options for workpiece holding
• shaping exterior and interior
• sanding, finishing, decoration, etc.

Prerequisite :
– Lathe Safety & Tool Sign Off
– Recent turning experience (attendance at a Lathe Office Hours/Skill Enhancement is strongly recommended)
Safety:
- Wear closed-toed shoes, long pants, short sleeve shirts, and eye protection (both face shield and safety glasses are needed – bring yours or use ours).
-Tie back long hair, remove necklaces and watches. Wear a short-sleeve shirt, remove hoodies or loose-fitting sweaters. No earbuds, gloves, or anything else that can get wrapped up in the lathe.
