WW: Lathe Safety & Tool Sign Off

Woodturning is a fun, absorbing activity. Almost no one comes to the shop just to “putter around” with the table saw or the planer, but once you learn the basics of turning, you’ll want to putter around with the lathe. While this sign-off course is intended for those with no prior experience it is a prerequisite to use the lathe independently and this sign-off is required for the bowl-turning class.

This course focuses on the basic skills needed to turn such as:

- Spindle-turning as well as learn how to safely use the lathe,

- Taking care of the tool

- Proficiency with the roughing and spindle gouges and the skew chisel

Sign off: Woodshop Lathes

Prerequisites: None

Mandatory Safety Dress Code: Closed-toed shoes, short sleeves, no loose clothing, and hair tied back.
