CANCELLED CS_S01: Hollow Casting Techniques

Hollow casts have many advantages over simple solid casts. They are lighter. They save on material. They allow you to mount LEDs and other electronics in them to make lamps and other fixtures.

Prerequisite: None

In this class we will demonstrate three techniques for creating hollow bodies: squish, slush and roto-casting. We will describe how to make the molds used in these techniques. Attendees will receive hands-on experience with all three techniques.

Because of the long curing times required to make a hollow body mold, we will not make the molds in class. We will show detailed step-by-step instructions for making them, instead.

Recommended Clothing: The materials used in this class will permanently bond to anything they get on. It is strongly recommended you wear old work clothes and shoes you won't mind getting stained.
