Lidded boxes are small "Treasure Chests" that can be made in many shapes and sizes on a lathe and can be turned with different options and embellishments. This class will emphasize the basic lidded box turning process of end grain hollowing, determining a proportional shape and sizing and fitting a lid. The students will go home with a finished lidded box, but also with and an understanding of developing more intricate lidded boxes. Skills developed in this class translate to making a pepper mills and turning a platter or a lidded bowl.
Prerequisite: Introduction to the Lathe or equivalent experience
Mandatory Safety Dress Code: Woodshop dress code enforced. Comfortable closed-toed shoes; no loose clothing; and hair/beard tied back.
