AC_P07: Intro to Sewing - Altering Ready Made Clothes NEW CLASS

As wonderful as it would be to sew ourselves custom wardrobes, most of the time that is not practical, especially when there is so much ready made clothing available. But those items are made to "standard" measurements that almost never exist in the real world.

Come learn how to alter your clothes for a better fit tailored to your shape. We will talk about what is possible and what isn't, and how to best choose clothes if you are planning to alter them. Danielle will demonstrate:

• Taking in sides
• Altering waist and seat (crotch) on pants
• Taking up shoulders

and

• mending holes in jeans

Finally, bring an item you have always wished you could alter to fit better and we will look at it and prep it so your first venture into a more tailored wardrobe is ready to go.

• Perquisites: Intro to Domestic Sewing Machine and Pattern Foundations - Understanding and Reading Patterns, or equivalent experience
• Age requirement: 12+ (all minors must be accompanied by an adult guardian at all times)

Meet Your Instructor

Danielle Priest

With nearly two decades as an educator under her belt, it's clear Danielle loves teaching. She's shared her expertise through workshops on everything from beginner sewing to operating specialty machines, pattern drafting, textile selection, and intricate embroidery techniques. But Danielle's true creative joy lies in bringing beloved Star Wars characters to life through meticulously crafted costumes. She's competed across the country, always challenging herself to top her previous creations. And just when you think she can't possibly cram more onto her list, she'll invariably get distracted by a new galactic passion project.

This class must have three students to run. If the class is canceled due to lack of attendance you will be issued a full refund. 

Per Nova Labs policy, there is no refund if the student is non-compliant with the safety dress requirement or more than 15 minutes late for class.
