Metal Shop MondaysWorking on a metalworking project and need advice, guidance, or another perspective? Metal Shop Mondays brings Nova Labs members together with experienced Metal Shop stewards and fellow makers to share knowledge, troubleshoot projects, ask questions, and learn more about metalworking tools and techniques.
Whether you are interested in metal fabrication, welding, machining, CNC metalworking, or DIY metal projects, Metal Shop Mondays is one of the many ways Nova Labs members can learn from and support one another.
Why You Should Attend:Highly recommended for members who are new to metalworking or working on a project and could use some guidance. Meet your Metal Shop stewards and other metalworkers in the community, ask questions, get help troubleshooting a project, and learn about upcoming tool safety and sign-off classes.
Shop Safety:We highly recommend bringing your own safety glasses and hearing protection. Closed-toed shoes are required. Portal registration for this event is required because tools and shop space are limited.
Age:Minors age 16 and older with projects or questions are welcome when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Important – Tool Sign-Offs:Metal Shop Mondays does not replace required safety and tool sign-offs. Previous tool experience is helpful but is not sufficient to use Nova Labs equipment independently. Members and attendees must have documented safety sign-off for the applicable tools before using them independently.
Have a project in mind?Message the event hosts beforehand in the #metalworking channel with information about your project or what you would like help with. This increases the chances that the shop and volunteers can be prepared for your project.
