Discover the foundations of silversmithing by making your own stackable rings! You will learn how to measure, cut, file, anneal and texture your metal before shaping it into a ring. You will then learn to solder the seam, quench and pickle, and discuss finishing. We will be using ring sizing mandrels, texturing hammers, Dremel tools, learning about jeweler's saws and files, and most importantly, learning how to make solder run without melting the whole thing!

Prerequisites: None
Sign off: Jewelry soldering

Get the sign off if you plan to come back and use the tools for your own project. Sign off is given only if you have attended Green Orientation, or do so within 30 days of this class.

Safety Equipment: Provided. Safety glasses are required. Hearing protection - because we are in a shop area with the potential for sustained loud noise. You may bring your own or use ours.

Details:
Copper, brass and silver will be available, and you'll go home with your own custom-made rings! Keep them for yourself or they make great gifts.

Small butane torches will be used for soldering.
